Tucked into the mountains just outside of Park City, this fall wedding was full of the kind of details that don’t just look pretty, they tell a story. The bride used driftwood her dad had collected over the years as part of the decor, the leaves were somehow at peak color, and just as everyone was getting settled for the ceremony, it started to rain.
Not in a stressful, run-for-cover kind of way, though. In the kind of way that makes everything feel even more real. The kind of rain that settles over the mountains and makes everyone lean in a little closer. It was kind of perfect in a really unexpected way.
The whole day felt thoughtful and relaxed and so completely like them—which, in my opinion, is always what makes a wedding unforgettable.
Getting Ready -
We started the day near Main Street in Park City. Bride and Groom's side each getting ready in one of the colorful houses you can see lining streets from Main Street. From there I hopped in the car with the bride and drove over to meet her soon to be husband at the classic Town Lift Plaza bridge. They did their first look, exchanged private vows and then met up with their families to climb on the shuttle to go get hitched. The drive up to the Lodge at Blue Sky blew me away!
Fall at the Lodge at Blue Sky -
The drive up to the Lodge at Blue Sky blew me away! Park City in the fall is basically magic. The leaves were on fire—gold, orange, deep red—and the air had that perfect barely-chilly crispness. It’s the kind of weather that makes you want to slow down and be present. The venue has the perfect mix of modern and cozy and it really fit their vibe and photographed so well.
The ceremony -
After family photos and a little coctail hour we drove over to their ceremony location. It took place overlooking the mountains. And then—a random rainstorm rolled in right as the bride started walking down the aisle. Instead of being stressful, it felt magical. The pretty mountains behind them, it wasn't too cold, they also packed clear umbrellas which made things really gorgeous too. I know it's kind of a nightmare on a wedding day to be rained on, but secretly it's my favorite lighting to shoot in. Rain has a way of stripping everyone's inhibitions back and keeping things super vulnerable. The cloud cover also makes everyone's skin super beautiful in post!
Upscale Barn Reception -
The reception was held in one of the most gorgeous barn spaces I’ve ever seen—warm wood tones, clean lines, and candlelight everywhere. This wasn’t cowboy vibes at all. Cozy yet sophisticated, elegant yet intimate. The space let the personal details shine, The bride incorporated one of my favorite personal touches I’ve ever seen: driftwood her father had collected over the years. These pieces became part of the decor and centerpieces, weaving family history into the design in a way that looked amazing.
Guests gathered for dinner, laughter, and celebration in a setting that felt elevated without being stiff—a perfect reflection of the couple themselves.

This wedding reminded me why I love photographing days like this. It’s not about perfection—it’s about presence. About meaningful details. Between the rain, the autumn leaves, and those personal touches, it felt exactly like them, and that’s always what makes a wedding individual, and ultimately unforgettable.
